Radios, Record Players, & Restoration

Aloha family and friends! I promised the post about my birthday record player restoration and our radio obsession so here it is! Hawaii is full of collectors. I'm pretty sure I've told you all about it in the Kailua Post. This is pretty awesome considering both Brady and I are drawn to these things. It really makes me adore this island even more! Anyway, before I got out here Brady went down to Kailua to the old antique shop in Kailua Square and found this little baby all beat up, half off, and in a storage area they were trying to clear.

Check out the yucky back.

With a lot of elbow grease, sanding, staining, plugging, and wiring, this is his beautiful masterpiece for my big 2-5.

If you notice, he carved the word "Amantes" into the wood. It means lovers in Latin. Excuse me while I totally gush about my romantic handy man. Isn't he just the sweetest?! Love that man of mine!

Back to radios... He is in the process of restoring a record cabinet that we found on bulk trash day sitting on the side of the street, in our neighborhood. (TOTALLY A FREAK OUT MOMENT. No, a freak out evening actually.) I'll show you the before but you have to wait and see the finished product and the process once it's fully complete.

Brady has a buddy at work that likes to collect old radios. He doesn't go all out restoring them like Brady does but he enjoys looking at them. They made a deal that if he restores them for him, not only would his buddy pay for it, he'd let Brady keep a few. This is partially how we have acquired so many small radios around the house. Every swap meet, market, antique store, and collectors convention, we end up with a few more little gems.

And even a trunk full of little gems.

Our vinyl collection is always growing as well. We have even married vinyl. Marrying music is kind of a big deal. Just wait until we get back to Virginia and he sees the whole rest of my vinyl collection. Welp, that's all I really have to show and say about our ever growing radio collection. Mahalo for reading <3

Oh and if you could, send some prayers to my little love Colton who is battling Florida heat to vacation in Disney world! <3
